What to expect, step by step
Your esthetician confirms which areas you want waxed and asks about retinol, prescription retinoids, recent peels and sunburn. If something rules waxing out today, we will tell you and suggest when to come back.
The skin is cleansed so the wax grips the hair rather than oil, sunscreen or makeup. Facial hair waxes best at about 1/8 inch long, so a couple of weeks of growth after shaving or tweezing is ideal.
Low-temperature wax is applied in small sections in the direction of hair growth, then lifted off quickly while the skin is held taut, which keeps each sting brief.
A calming finish takes down the pinkness, and you leave with simple aftercare for the next 48 hours: no heat, no direct sun, no exfoliating acids and no makeup on the waxed area until the next day.

In South Florida the sun is strong all year, so we plan waxing around it: skip the beach and pool for 48 hours afterward, then wear SPF 30 or higher on waxed skin. Book a few days before an event rather than the morning of, and use our weekday evening hours, open until 7 pm Monday through Thursday, to fit a quick wax in after work.
Services clients book alongside facial waxing
Most waxing clients also keep their brows on a schedule, so it makes sense to pair a wax with one of our brow services in the same visit. If your main concern is soft peach fuzz and dull texture rather than darker hair, a dermaplaning facial on a separate day exfoliates as it smooths. Getting ready for an event? Book your wax a few days before your makeup appointment so the skin is calm when foundation goes on.

Most people stay smooth for about 3 to 5 weeks. Your first wax may seem to fade sooner because hairs grow in different cycles, so some were not above the skin yet. With regular appointments, many clients find regrowth comes in finer and more even.
Do not wax while taking isotretinoin or within six months of stopping it, which is the American Academy of Dermatology's guidance. Pause topical retinoids such as retinol or tretinoin on the area for about 5 to 7 days first, and skip waxing over sunburn, broken skin or a recent peel that has not fully healed. If you are unsure about a prescription, ask your doctor.
No. Waxing does not change the genetics or hormones that decide how thick your hair grows. Shaved hair can feel coarser because it is cut bluntly, while waxed hair regrows with its natural tapered tip.
Waxing removes hair from the root, so it lasts weeks and covers larger areas quickly. Dermaplaning removes hair at the surface while exfoliating, so there is no pulling but hair returns sooner. Threading is precise for small areas; it is not on our menu, so we offer waxing and a dermaplaning facial.
About 1/8 inch is enough for facial hair. After shaving or tweezing, give it about two weeks of growth before your appointment so the wax has something to grip.
Every 3 to 5 weeks works for most clients. Booking on a steady schedule catches more hairs in a similar growth phase, which tends to make each wax quicker and more comfortable.

For 24 to 48 hours, avoid direct sun, tanning, saunas, very hot water on the face, sweaty workouts, pools, and exfoliating acids or retinol. Keep makeup off the waxed area until the next day and do not pick at small bumps. After that, SPF 30 or higher on waxed skin helps protect it from sunburn and dark marks.
Many people keep waxing during pregnancy, but hormonal changes can make skin more reactive and change how hair grows. Check with your doctor or OB first, tell your esthetician you are pregnant, and consider starting with a small area like the upper lip.
